Download compressed imageHow to prepare a photo for a 20KB upload limit
- Select a JPG, PNG or WebP image from your device. Keep your original file as a backup.
- Leave the target at 20KB and choose an output filename. Click Compress image.
- Read the output size and pixel dimensions before downloading the JPG. Open the saved image and check that the face, text or other important details remain clear.
- Compare the downloaded file with the form's current size, dimension and format requirements before uploading.
What this tool changes
The compressor adjusts JPEG quality and may reduce pixel dimensions to approach your selected size. A detailed image may not reach 20KB within the tool's practical limits. Compression changes the image: it is not a lossless copy of the original. If the result is too large or the details are unreadable, start with a more suitable crop or select a higher limit when your form allows it.
| Setting | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Input | JPG, PNG or WebP; maximum 15MB |
| 20KB target | 20 × 1024 = 20,480 bytes; not a promise of exactly 20,000 bytes |
| Output | JPG; transparent areas are filled with white |
| Dimensions | May decrease during compression; check the result shown by the tool |
Using the result in an application form
File size and pixel dimensions are different requirements. A photo can be below a size limit while having the wrong shape or resolution. A form that defines 20KB as 20,000 bytes can reject a file that this tool reports as 20KB. Check the downloaded file's actual byte count when the limit is strict. Do not assume that an old blog post or a previous year's form describes the current requirement.

Common questions
Will my photo be exactly 20KB?
No. The tool aims for the selected size, and a detailed photo may stay above it. Check the actual output before uploading.
Is 20KB always 20,000 bytes?
No. This tool uses 1KB = 1024 bytes, so its 20KB target is 20,480 bytes. A receiving form may use a different byte limit.
Are selected photos uploaded to TURUBA Tools?
The compressor processes your selected image locally in your browser. Hosting and advertising requests are separate; see the privacy policy.
Does this guarantee acceptance by SSC or another form?
No. The current application instructions decide size, dimensions, background and other requirements. Verify those requirements independently.

FINAL UPLOAD CHECK
A small file still has to be the right photograph
Begin with the receiving form, not a number remembered from an earlier application. Note its allowed format, maximum file size, pixel dimensions and any separate photo rules. "20KB" may be shorthand in a notice, while a portal can enforce a precise byte limit. This tool uses 20 times 1024 bytes as its target and reports the output size. It aims toward that size; it cannot promise every detailed image will fit or that the receiving portal will accept it. Save the original before making a smaller copy.
Choose a suitable starting image
Crop away empty wall or scenery when the form allows it, but keep the subject and required margins intact. A photograph with a busy background or fine texture needs more data than a simple one. Repeatedly compressing an already compressed JPG can produce blocky edges and a muddy face. If possible, return to the original file for another attempt. When an application also asks for exact dimensions, set those with the resizer first and then compress that output. Compression alone does not set an exact width and height.
Read the result, not just the button label
After processing, compare the displayed output bytes and dimensions with the form instructions. Download the JPG and open it at normal size and at a closer zoom. Check eyes, small lettering, signatures and any border the application requires. A file can meet the byte limit but look unusable. If the result remains above the limit, do not rename the extension or assume the upload will pass. Try a better crop or a less detailed source while preserving the content the form requires.
Before uploading, confirm that the portal accepts a saved image. Some application systems require a live camera capture or have separate rules for photographs and signatures. This tool prepares an image; it does not certify identity, background colour or compliance with an examination notice. Keep the downloaded file with a clear name so you do not accidentally upload the original or an older compressed version.
